ABOUT DIDO KOTYGOROSHKO
DIDO KOTYGOROSHKO makes wishes come true. This small amulet inspires dreams and optimism. Dido overcomes the boundaries of your imagination and glass ceilings of possibilities, the owner of good luck and a happy accident.
DIDO is a series of unique art objects by MAKHNO ceramic studio that follows and develops the traditions of Ukrainian zoomorphic sculpture, a unique monument of decorative and applied art with a thousand-year history dating back to Trypillia.
DIDOs are created in a ceramic workshop based on sketches by Serhii Makhno, and are handmade and decorated. Each sculpture is unique and has no absolute duplicate.
The craftsmen, hereditary potters, use authentic techniques and secrets, as well as their own know-how in modeling, painting, coloring, glazing, and baking. All materials are natural and hand-picked in ecologically clean regions of Ukraine.
The series is highly appreciated by art galleries and collectors around the world, recognized as an exceptional work of decorative and applied art with deep connotations and history. DIDO received international recognition at the world’s largest home decor exhibition Salone del Mobile Milano, and also represented Ukraine at the main international exhibition of national achievements Expo 2020 Dubai. They were exhibited at the world-famous Les Ateliers Courbet gallery in New York and are now part of permanent exhibitions at art venues around the world.
WHO ARE THE DIDOS?
Didos are characters of Ukrainian folklore, good spirits who help people, show them the right way and ward off evil. Since ancient times, Dido figurines have served as amulets for the ancient Ukrainians, kept in the house as good luck charms and guardians against dark forces. Each Dido is responsible for its own sphere of existence.
